birthday spanks

This friday it was my 18,5 birthday, so my hostfamily threw a birthdayparty for me! I thought it was just going to be a dinner and a cake, but they went all out. I even got a lot of presents, which felt so weird to accept because it was not really my birthday.... I got really nice presents though, including a yellow car and a shotglas! We had pestopasta, salad and so many yummy things and the cake was a carrotcake with swedish fish on it, and candles that said 18,5! It was a nice american birthday experience! Sandra spent the night as usual which is always nice. ( ;) ) AND ALSO! they have birthday spanks; one spank for each year!!!! They did not do it on me, probably because that would be awkward but i said sandra could do it when we go to bed :)
Saturday we went to do something typically american, and "ya'll" have to guess what 'cuz I aint gon' write it here. It was so cool though. After that we went to common ground fair, which is a fair for dancing hippies. It was alright! Then we went home for a dinner, and sandra put her beans on the hamburger because she thought that was how it was done the american way, and she got laughed at. And she asked me "how did you know???!!!", like it made perfectly sense to put beans on hamburgers. This doesn't seem to translate in to text, i guess you had to be there. She spent the night again and we had B&J, which was the first time since i came here, yummy in my tummy!
Today I have skyped with michelle, emelie, paige and my real family and studied a little bit. They had a scout-meeting here so i've just been relaxing, eating popcorn and drinking ice-tea.

hjalmarkvällar

The biking in acadia was sooo nice, I have taken pictures;(read next with italian-accent) do not worry!!! After the biking we went to a pizzaplace for pizza. And that dinner was pretty crazy. Mostly because sandra do not understand when my host-mom is referring something to sex and my host-brother has to explain it in an awkward way. ANYWAYS sandra spent the night, Sandra, Karen and I had a movie night and watched Step up 3, which was an extremely bad movie even for being a dance movie.
Sunday we went up early for the Race for the Cure. We put our t-shirt on (got it when u signed up) and comfortable walking clothes. When we got there we could see many tents and they all handed out FREE stuff!!!! it was bars, candy, pencils, scarfs etc. and the best thing was dunkin' donuts. Free donuts, (Sandra and i had plenty) and chocolate/coffee. Not very good before exercising, but hey - I'm in america, and what's not more american than unhealthy food and bad exercise?
Got back home, my throat started to hurt and I did my homework.
Monday and today i got a sleep in till about six! NAZ.
After school today I skyped with Michelle, Viola and Emelieie and it almost felt like I was with them except for not having real chips to eat. oh well. I miss hjalmar-nights. reeely bad. I wish I could pause, have a hjalmarkväll and get back here. that would be great!
Then it was yoga with all the elders and it felt good to get a one-hour-and-fifteen-minutes stretch. You don't get that too often.

annoying

HEY!
It's saturday and that means no school today, which is kind of great.
Yesterday sociology was the worst and the best class so far. Worst because we had to to an essay during class about a film that i did not understand anything of and I had to tell the teacher that i did not get much (they had weird accents in the film and i kind of gave up and went to lala-land). I tried my best with the essay and just handed it in. So I was done half an hour before the class was over so the teacher, who speaks swedish, had a conversation about everything. Next to me this really annoying german girl is sitting and trying to talk to us, (she has done this all the classes, and now when she see me in the hallway she goes HEY MARIKA LOVE U) and she asks the teacher if he is planning on taking students to sweden this year like he does almost every year. and when the class is over he says to me in swedish i have such a headache and i was like oh too bad for you (confused), and he says she wont stop talking!!! and i was like THANK YOU!!!! she wont stop talking to me during class and overtime i get to the classroom all the seats are taken except for the ones next to her. And he said can you imagine sitting next to her for eight hours in a airplane??? I love talking shit about other students to teachers.
After school my new mom drove me to a hairdresser because i needed a haircut. After that we went home to make swedish meatballs for a potluck-dinner. They turned out pretty good though when she did the brownsauce to it she put in too much wine, but because  I am an alcoholic i loved it. We picked up will on our way over there and many people from school was there and we played games and etc. Before we went to bed Karen and I watched a bad chinese-movie with people running in the air.
Today we're going biking in acadia which i am looking forward to. ops i forgot to tell you, last weekend we went to a gun show which feels pretty american. it was pretty cool.

yaah

So second schoolweek is over. It was a pretty tough week, but I have changed my spanish level 4 to spanish 3 because it was too much and too intense. It is enough with all the homework we get from the other classes such as english where we have to write a college essay for every friday in three weeks. I AM NOT GOING TO COLLEGE!!!!! I have had my first key-club meeting, and spanish-club meeting. We signed up for some volunteer-work and both clubs seems like they're going to be fun.
Yesterday (friday), me, karen, Mariah Carey, Rosie and Lee went to stellas which is a restaurant where Rosie sings and shee is sooo goooood! And the best part is when she has finished singing and everyone is completely amazed and she goes to our table!! haha
Today we we're at a football game and now were eating dinner BYEE

min dag

Today was an interesting day. Sandra and I had open campus first period, swedish "whole", so we went to the corner store to buy some american candy. Off we went and after we had bought it we sat down just outside. And for those of you who don't know, bangor is a "sketchy" place, or at least it has sketchy people, that is what I've been told. So we sat there and we could se this guy in his mid-fourties, walking towards us, and I knew he was going to say something to us. Of course he did. So he starts talking to us, we answer with short answers and I say to sandra, in swedish of course, that we get the hell out of there. We put our backpacks on and stand up and he goes "you don't have to leave, you don't have to be afraid"; which basically makes him even more scary. So that was our first sketchy-bangor-person experience. Lets just say that I'll NEVER walk there alone. And after school Sandra and I (yes, we're always together) went to se a teacher that works with key-club that we want to join. She was in sweden this february so we've met her before, and she is the nicest teacher. After we had talked about the club she decided it was time to talk about boys. Are we single? Are we interested in anyone yet? She told us that when we had found a guy that we are interested in she would help us setting up something. And she was serious! dead serious! - don't you worry, I'm not going to let a teacher set up a date or something for me. Not gonna happen.
In school they now have us swedish exchange students on a noticeboard, with our picture and everything. Something else that might interest you is that everyone says that I look like Paige. They're like 'I looked at you and thought it was Paige, so creepy!' And like the only thing we have in common is our haircolor and that we're both tall. And ALSO three people have asked if Sandra and I are twins or sisters, though my host-mom says that they're all crazy because we don' look a thing alike. And I think I have to agree with her, because I just don't se it.
That was it for marika, she'll be back as soon as she can!

school is my life.

so now i have not written in a while, but that might be because of SCHOOL. you swedes have no idea!!! They are über strict and gives homework everyday till the following day. Though I really like the classes I'm taking, the teachers I have and I actually like the fact that you have to address to your teacher by saying mr/mrs -lastname-. I also like the dresscode, ok not really, but it is fun that you can get in trouble for being a little bit slutty. The classes that are the most challenging are english and spanish. Im taking english with SENIORS, who have been talking, speaking and writing in english their freakin' whole life. Wellwell... I'll at least get better. That is fooshoo! Sandra and I have to write college-essays and all that jazz even though it's for no purpose at all except maybe for our english teacher to se which level we're at.  And in my spanish there is a guy who speaks fluent spanish, he comes from some spanish speaking country. And I'm in his class. Also the teacher speaks only spanish to us, and we can only speak spanish to her. consequently I'm quiet most part of the class. and most important of all - I went to bagelcenter for the first time! I had some sort of really yummy ice-tea and peanutbutter-fudge for a little bit over two dollars which was crazy cheap.
No pictures today, sorry!
